Workplace Hazards Or Environments Create Pre-Existing Conditions

The economy is facing continued challenges from recessionary periods and enormous unemployment. However, while many Americans are facing economic challenges, an additional challenge being confronted in various avenues is a pre-existing condition. In other words, while pre-existing conditions are preventable or uncontrollable, preventable pre-existing conditions from workplace hazards and conditions such as carcinogen liquids or surrounding environments contribute toward pre-existing conditions, which unfortunately create financial health hazards. In addition, since a limited guardian workforce such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is in existence where presence is known from major catastrophes, companies use at-will cancer philosophies knowing of a limited guardian workforce. In essence, workplace hazards or conditions contribute to pre-existing conditions or unfortunate shortened life spans. Furthermore, creating shortened life spans from workplace environments is not a solution toward creating or maintaining career opportunities from shortened life spans.


For instance, Stanley Ann Dunham, Ph.D., the mother of the Honorable President Barack Obama, endured many cultural diversities and workplace environments. As stated by Ripley (2008), "Her anthropological research into how real people worked helped inform the policies set by the Bank Rakyat Indonesia." Unfortunately, life's challenges can transform environments such as cancer into pre-existing conditions. Furthermore, when life challenges or medical conditions occur, pre-existing conditions will follow from industry standards. In other words, although health insurance was present, the current medical diagnosis or condition is invalid for insurance purposes and considered a pre-exsiting conditions. Furthermore, Stanley Ann Dunham, Ph.D. should have known about work environments or conditions, which may contribute to the diagnosed condition.




Unfortunately, individuals are not always properly informed of workplace hazards, conditions, chemicals, or environments, which contribute toward pre-existing conditions. Furthermore, only in America when individuals attempt toward preventing pre-existing conditions and protecting individual health and safety are individuals reprimanded or discharged for protecting individual health regardless of health and safety protected individual rights. In addition, although an individual may have health insurance, the insurance company may choose not to honor the claim regardless of the insurance. In other words, the insurance company is stating that individuals must bear responsibility for being in an unhealthy environment and should have known of the environment. Regrettably, when companies or working environments do not discuss health and safety environments, then pre-existing conditions will follow from the unhealthy environment.
Similarly and as a classic example of workplace conditions create pre-existing conditions combined with company retaliation is the incident of Vidal Rodriguez and other employees at Pymm Thermometer Company (PTC). For instance, employees at PTC encountered health conditions from mercury vapor poising, which included retaliation for protecting individual lives. In any event, PTC manufactures thermometers for clinical use. In addition, the company occupies two floors of the same building, in which manufacturing thermometers are on the second floor whereas service equipment repair and services is on the ground floor. However, whereas employees, being primarily Hispanic workers, performed respective work duties, employees are additionally exposed to mercury poisoning. In other words, long-term exposure from mercury chemicals created various mercury-exposure health effects. Furthermore, since language barriers contribute to ineffective health and safety communication and discussing health concerns creates fear of retaliation, then long-term pre-existing conditions will occur resulting from inefficient health and safety practices. In essence, although employees desire a healthful and safe working environment, the existing working environment created individual mercury contamination. However, if safety measure were implemented, then Rodriguez and other could have a longer life span.


Nonetheless, Rodriguez's working environment provided by upper management contributed to Rodriguez's mercury contamination. Furthermore, although Rodriguez sought medical compensation, seeking medical compensation created grounds for termination. In essence, retaliation is retaliation. In other words, preventing mercury poisoning is preventing pre-existing conditions. However, when Rodriguez sought further health-care prevention or health-care safety, PTC sought termination resulting from health-care prevention. Nevertheless, creating pre-existing conditions, shortened life spans, or other company calamities should not be a method towards job creation.


Yet, in another twist of workplace hazards created from a stressful environment and now in an unfortunate long-term pre-existing condition is that of co-worker Mario Alberto Garay. Mr. Garay was employed at Remec Defense and Space, which is currently Cobham, who worked as an Electronics Technician during unusual working hours. In other words, Mr. Garay's working hours included early morning or past midnight work related activities. Unfortunately, unusual working hours can lead to an assortment of ailments, which appear ignored through non-communication. Furthermore, when compounding the unusual working environment with unrealistic supervisors then stresses will occur. Unfortunately, Mr Garay lost 90 years of quality life resulting from REMEC Defense & Space work activities. Furthermore, Mr. Garay did not sign an employment agreement, which provides company stresses and a shortened life span from associated working environments. However, providing an alternative or first-shift operation, then Mr. Garray's night-shift stresses could be minimized.


Thus, although Mr. Garay was working unusual shifts through early morning hours, Mr. Garay was additionally battling unusual work shift side effects associated with abnormal working hours. In essence, REMEC Defense and Space or Cobham continuously violated Mr. Garay's protected health and safety through ignoring side effects of unusual working conditions. In the mean time, depression and stress have taken a turn for the worse where Mr. Garay passed away on April 7, 2007. In other words, work-related stress cancer from REMEC Defense and Space or Cobham contributed to Mr. Garay's shortened life span creating long-term pre-existing conditions or unfortunate job opportunities. In essence, unusual working conditions, stresses, fatigue, and a variety of effects from the unusual working conditions contributed to Mr. Garay's shortened and preventable life span. However, providing normal shift-work hours can prevent stresses and improve a quality-family lifestyle.


Night-shift fatigue syndromes, depression, or related scenarios have been studied and reported from various organizations. Furthermore, organizations such as Circadian conduct numerous seminars to organizations, which will improve quality of life through better awareness. Unfortunately, incidences of Mr. Garay and many others are being ignored by respective attorney's, employers, or unforeseen individuals through lack of accountability, misinformed communication, and disregarded expert opinions. Unfortunately, fatigued and depression characteristics were ignored by REMEC Defense and Space. In essence, workplace conditions or environments create long-term and undesired pre-existing conditions. As stated by Penso (2007), "Complaints from guards began rolling in and the list was endless. In addition to the health problems, the fatigue affected their performance in a gradual and transitory way." Furthermore, fatigued symptoms from unusual working conditions created irritability amongst the workforce. Therefore, the unusual working conditions from shift work disorder (SWD) created misery and fatigued symptoms, which developed a shortened life span or long-term pre-existing condition for Mr. Garay.


Equally, I too encountered Mr. Garay at REMEC Defense & Space or Cobham while working an undesired graveyard shift while encountering an unknown pre-existing condition. Being a former quality engineer and having the skills toward finding unusual characteristics, one can certainly find anomalies within a system or an organization. In any event and after a brief training seminar, I started working at Remec's second shift, which was from 4 pm until near 1 am. Working past the midnight hours certainly became exasperating. In essence, the workload became unproductive while attempting to manage unusual working conditions. Furthermore, when individuals are pawns or human switches within an organization, then pre-existing conditions will follow. In any event, discovering graveyard conditions and an unmarked cancer chemical would certainly create long-term pre-existing conditions. Unfortunately, discovering unmarked cancer chemicals becomes a hazard to the employee. In other words, the carcinogen contents that are inside the container do not match the lable that is on the container.


Nevertheless, individuals within an organization discuss beliefs and concerns. However, when individuals exercise their opinions or freedoms, then individuals become further thrown into undesirable graveyard positions. In other words, expressing an opinion or protective right within an organization is rewarded with graveyard opportunities, which is not discussed during interviews or employment contracts. In any event, being on a graveyard shift at any age is a challenge. Furthermore, when working against an abnormal human operation, then individuals must overcome many obstacles. In addition, when individuals are rewarded with diseases from undesired operations, companies on the other hand reward employees with insurance or pre-existing conditions. Furthermore and surprisingly, when individuals present doctor's notice to human resource personal, human resource personal such as Ramirez can ignore a doctor's comments since REMEC Defense & Space is an at-will organization. Unfortunately, ignoring doctor's comments can translate into pre-existing conditions.


Nonetheless, fatigued symptoms such as tiredness from graveyard conditions accumulate regardless of daytime sleep. Eventually, sleeplessness accumulates requiring sleep regardless of graveyard working hours, obscured manager's comments, or attorney's unintelligent statements. In the meantime, another graveyard employee would find a cubicle for sleeping activities since the hours were intolerable. Unfortunately, protecting individual health and safety through micro sleeps is further rewarded with supervisory reprimands. Furthermore, when managers or Faulkner comments of, "health concerns to your dog", then pre-existing conditions such as fatigue, depression, stress, anxiety, cancer, after-work accidents, and a myriad of diseases will continue from workplace activities. In addition, when individuals attempt toward preventing night-shift accidents, REMEC Defense & Space, reflective attorneys, and others focus toward night-shift accidents or other obituary workplace features. Reluctantly, after graveyard sleeplessness, multiple night-shift health reports, lack of real production work, and other management pressures created a transferred shift change from graveyard to first-shift operation.


Nevertheless, a transfer from graveyard to first-shift encounters an enduring jet-lag battle. However, after weeks on first shift, recovery to normal human operation can begin. In any event, a first-shift operation leads to an interesting discovery requiring OSHA compliance, possible Leukemia candidates, and long-term pre-existing conditions. For instance, individuals encounter questionable liquids used during operation. Furthermore, when individuals report and discover unidentified carcinogen liquids in non-labeled containers, then terminations will follow. Similarly, when a former REMEC Defense & Space employee recommends removal of questionable liquids for health and safety concerns, then questionable employees become targets for removal. In essence, industrial liquids regardless of toxicity contribute toward pre-existing conditions. However, when limited dosage such as ethylene oxide (EtO) contribute toward leukemia or the Oncology department, then stricter measures are required. Furthermore, when respective capitalistic legal counsels appear ignorant or unfazed toward health and safety, then disbarment should follow.


In the meantime, former obituary employees are pondering for justice resulting from company's cancerous environment. Regrettably, future REMEC Defense & Space or Cobham leukemia candidate employees may be seeking toxic attorneys for workplace EtO exposures while realistic earth-firendly or pure water products are available.

Every person regardless of individual has a right to maintain his or her health and safety in the workplace. In other words, protecting individual health and safety is a protected right within a society. Furthermore, one of California's protected rights is health and safety, which is a given right. Unfortunately, individuals within a workplace organization such as REMEC Defense & Space or Cobham, Pymm Thermometer Company, respective attorneys, and many others cannot comprehend health and safety in a workplace. In addition, given at-will principles of, "we can do what we want with the employee", an employers market, lack of attorney understanding through ignorance, a limited-English speaking workforce, and other scenarios, then health and safety risks combined with pre-existing conditions become challenged.


Not surprisingly, the United Nations labor chief stresses prevention towards health and safety. In other words, preventing leukemia, cancers, or other workplace hazards and diseases is better than acquiring leukemia, cancers, or other workplace hazards. Hence, prevention towards workplace accidents and deaths minimizes pre-existing conditions created from workplace environments.

Unfortunately, preventing workplace or from work-related accidents are rewarded with retaliation and a lack of adequate justice system. For instance, employees from PTC who sought after workers compensation were rewarded with termination. In other words, employees who sought medical compensation for the mercury poisoning were terminated. Similarly, suggesting removal of an EtO cleaning liquid, which creates leukemia is rewarded with termination and further retaliation. In addition, suggesting proper labeling on containers with appropriate MSDS labels becomes rewarded with undesired comments. In essence, preventing health issues such as a myriad of disease or other concerns, which prevents pre-existing conditions is rewarded with unjust retaliation.

In summary, employees encounter various workplace settings, which contribute toward pre-existing conditions or shortened life spans. Individuals however have a protected right towards health and safety conditions including disease preventions or other ailments. Unfortunately, companies such as PTC, REMEC Defense & Space or Cobham, respective litigants, and others use at-will cancers while the Oncology department appears puzzled toward continuous cancerous environments. In essence, at-will cancers from environments create unfortunate short-term or long-term pre-existing conditions. Furthermore, operational environments, conditions, hazards, ignorance, and other similar traits created by such are rewarded by a shortened life span or long-term pre-existing condition. Nonetheless, individuals are pondering of collective or long-term pre-existing conditions. In any event, has anyone seen Mr. Garray?

National Youth Service Corps - Government Institution Or Divine Intention?

In Nigeria, the National Youth Service Corps is a compulsory scheme for all college graduates. This scheme helps to provide an avenue for such graduates to gain work experience in their various fields and also to let them mix with other cultures and be more aware of their heritage. To this end, after one's degree, one is posted to a state outside of one's residence and college location to another state in the country.
I was privileged to be a part of this scheme and here is my experience.


Collecting my call-up letter was in itself a biggie even though I didn't know I was in for a much more 'bigger biggie' (pun intended). I'll try to be as vivid and lucid as possible 'cos I'll want you to feel exactly what I intend as I write this.

Now, on collecting my call-up, I was suddenly in no hurry to find out where I was posted to. I can't tell you how strong my faith was that I was going to be posted to Lagos because I was supposed to start working. Eventually, I opened it and I saw the word 'KEBBI' written in the space indicating what state in Nigeria one was going to partake in the National Youth Service Corps exercise. Hmmph! (I really wish I could sigh in writing). Please follow this train of thought.

I opened the letter, saw Kebbi written 'innit' and closed it.
I opened it again hoping if the paper made a mistake in showing what was originally written in it, it would remember.
I saw it was still Kebbi, then I closed my eyes.

I opened it hoping if my eyes didn't see clearly then it would see clearer.
I saw it was still Kebbi, then I got confused. Confusion was the first feeling I had.
Was the NYSC exercise not supposed to be carried out in a state in Nigeria?
I was sure of the answer so I asked the next possible question.

Is Kebbi in Nigeria?
It would interest you to know that I couldn't answer that question until I remembered my 'state and capital recitation' in primary school (pls tell me you still remember). Then I concluded, yes, Kebbi state is really in Nigeria.

I called everyone I could to inform them of the terrible calamity that had befallen me. No one, and I repeat, no one gave me any hope or succor. They either went 'What? That place is far o! Ehn? What are we going to do now?'
or, for those that were close to giving succor, 'That's not possible! You will come back to Lagos. You can't go o!
Don't worry. You'll be in Lagos!' Now I can say the rest is history. But I won't say that. (Did I already say it?)
I flew to Sokoto from Lagos two days before we were to report at the orientation camp. Seeing Sokoto completely devastated me and I didn't dare hope Kebbi would be any better because Kebbi was carved out of Sokoto and didn't even have a functioning airport. I left Sokoto for Kebbi in a cab the next day and confirmed my worst fears. Kebbi as I saw it then was void of life - this statement would only be wrong if you'd include cows, goats, camels, sheep and dogs in the 'life'. The weather made matters worse. It was so hot and hilariously it was rainy season. It would rain heavily and flood the entire place and yet it was very hot with scorching sunshine. There and then I made up my mind. I would not stay in Kebbi. For no reason at all. I was going to apply for relocation.

Strangely, during camp, I, somehow, decided to let it go. If I was posted to Kebbi, then I'd stay. Maybe it'd be for the best. And you know what, I didn't even care about the job. My parents thought I had run amok. I sha made up my mind to stay.

Well, I've been staying in Kebbi for about 6 months and some days and I've realized certain things. The government actually intended for youths to contribute in some way to the development of the country wholly, hence the NYSC scheme. Ironically, in most places like Kebbi where it is priority for this lofty aim of the government to be established, it holds no sway. But I'm beginning to see God's plan in this.
For those who get posted to somewhere, where it seems desolate and of no benefit to one's career, I see a divine plan of God to prepare you for your world. See it this way. You went to school for 4, 5 or maybe even 8 years to prepare yourself academically for your world and your future. Then you get one year to prepare yourself spiritually too. Even though you engaged in spiritual activities in school, you need to take the God-course as a major to graduate into life.

I'm benefiting here as I'm learning things I would never have thought it necessary to learn if I was in Lagos. I'm also making mistakes I would never have made if I were in Lagos. Mistakes that have affected my reputation and almost my walk with God but I'm learning from them daily.

And I know that for the simple reason that I obeyed and came to Kebbi, I'll be gold when I leave. I'll be beautiful in and out because the Holy Spirit would have fully worked on me.

So maybe the Nigerian government is not achieving its set goal for the creation of the NYSC scheme but I can assure you that the Heavenly government is shaping, forming, molding and recreating lives - a means to the glorious end of eternity in heaven.

For those who are yet to be called up for the NYSC stuff, this is not a plea to you to leave your posting to God and not influence it in anyway. Rather, it is a strong conviction in the heart of one who is grateful to God that He created Kebbi State - The Land of Equity.

A lot of people are so eager to make money online that they jump right in without the proper preparation or planning. Of course, before getting started in any other profession there are a lot of things you have to learn (at least if you want to stay in that field for any length of time) and the same is true of internet marketing. Preparation is everything.

While working in internet marketing is certainly a lot more pleasant than putting up with a long commute on choked highways or crowded trains only to go to the same cubicle day after day and making money for someone else, you still need to know what you're doing if you want to be successful in internet marketing.
The truth is that a lot of people who get involved in internet marketing fail to make much money online. However, there are also plenty of people who make a fortune this way. Why do some people do so well while others fail? There are a lot of different reasons but what it all comes down to is that I don't know and neither do you!

But there is something which I am certain about. If you want to make money online in internet marketing, you have to be passionate about the product or service you're trying to sell. This is one of the keys to doing well in internet marketing. If you really care and are excited by what you're selling, potential customers will be able to tell; and enthusiasm, as we all know is contagious.

Sure, there are people who are just so good at what they do that they could sell you your own dog! These people don't need to be excited about what they sell? they're just that talented. However, if you were one of those people, you wouldn't be reading this right now. Having passion for your product is not enough in itself to make your internet marketing career a successful one, but it is a good place to start. You're also going to need a good website, solid marketing strategy and so forth.


Your own favorite search engine is the best place to begin. You can do research on different internet marketing opportunities and evaluate the different products and companies out there. When you find something which strikes a chord with you, then you may have found the right business to go into.


It's a mistake to get involved in an internet marketing opportunity based on the compensation plan alone. If you've heard some "marketing guru" tell you to choose opportunities this way, remember this? they are likely one of those people with a natural knack for sales. You, on the other hand may not have this talent? but if you are truly passionate about what you're selling, you can sell just as well as these self-appointed gurus. Now of course, becoming one of those people who can sell anything t anyone is a worthy goal- and it should be on your to-do list.


Before you jump headfirst into internet marketing, take the time to find a product or service which you feel strongly about and believe in. Even if you have the best product in the world and a great marketing plan behind you, you may not be able to make money online if you don't actually care about what you're selling. You have plenty of time to learn how to sell coal to Newcastle? start with a product you're passionate about instead.

"Well, I guess it's time for my root canal."
That was the most memorable thing that Ed would say to me all day. Ed (not his real name) was the number-two executive at a major U.S. financial firm, and first in line to succeed the soon-to-retire CEO. He had been through the wringer with a number of media trainers, and it showed.

We had been introduced, and Ed just didn't want to be with me. There was a seemingly permanent scowl on his beefy, reddish face. He had a perfectly pressed shirt and great gold cufflinks, but his collar was a couple of sizes too tight.

When it came time for our mock interview, Ed spoke to me in a laconic monotone, scattered with eminently quotable moments like: "yes," "no," and "I dunno, about six or seven people." It made me wonder how he had gotten as far as he did. The fact is executive suites of the world are mostly populated with middle-aged men and women not unlike Ed. In an era of 24-hour business news, it's these individuals - many of whom have had little to no media exposure for most of their careers - who are increasingly called on to be the public face of their company.

Contrary to what some corporate watchdogs would argue, I've known the vast majority of these people to be bright, ethical, and highly capable. But media communications is just not their bailiwick. They do not teach these skills in business school.

And, so, admired as they are in the country club - and feared as they might be in the boardroom - these captains of industry tremble at the prospect of spending a few minutes with a wet-behind-the-ears reporter who is often barely old enough to work for them. As a result, forays into the realm of interviews become, for these type-A personalities, remarkably type-B.

They speak in sentence fragments that have to be spliced together, electronically or in print, to be even marginally usable. (No wonder executives often feel misquoted or taken out of context.)
They listen, sometimes against their better judgment, when legal advisers tell them to think of media appearances as if they were depositions. They are instructed to say as little as possible, to fill in the gaps with plain vanilla messaging, and to approach every reporter as an adversary. Of course, with most reporters, this advice has an opposite effect of what the executive wants.
An effective relationship with journalists - be they print reporters, TV broadcasters, or even bloggers - has nothing to do with creating an adversary. It has everything to do with correctly understanding journalists and their needs.
The supposition that reporters are always looking for their subjects to simply "answer the question" is fundamentally wrong. Sure, sometimes they need those answers. But at their core, good reporters aren't just looking for "yes" or "no."

They are looking for a narrative. They long for the unexpected. Their pulse quickens at information that surprises them, intrigues them, moves them. They want to satiate the basic curiosities that led them to become journalists in the first place.

It's why the definition of news is so often summed up with the phrase "man bites dog." It's no accident that Don Hewitt, the creator of 60 Minutes, titled his memoir, Tell Me a Story.

This imbalance between the demand for good narrative and the limited supply of compelling material is a big reason why much of today's news cycle appears so tediously dysfunctional. It's why what you see, read, and hear often seems sensationalistic on the one hand; repetitive, trite, and boring on the other.
But therein lies an opportunity. The people who know the secrets to filling these voids - and filling them well, as opposed to poorly - get called to appear in media, again and again.

One day, if he can overcome his self-defeating mindset and wipe that sour puss off his face, Ed might take his training to heart and become one of those people. But that seems unlikely. Shortly after agreeing to begin an intensive program with us to remediate his media skills, Ed's board decided to do a little remediation itself by bypassing him for the post of CEO and handing it to someone from outside the company. They also decided that improving Ed's media skills wasn't worth the time or cost.

Ed can take comfort in this stark fact: When it comes to his own media unpreparedness - and by extension, his company's - he is far from alone.

In my career as a salesman and contract negotiator I have had the opportunity of watching exceptional negotiators and I have come to the conclusion that what separates the common herd from the Master Negotiator can be boiled down to the following five key secrets.

1. Planning
It might sound trite to say Master Negotiators plan better than everyone else but the plain fact is, they do.
They plan more comprehensively- not just for the price or delivery, but who will say what, to whom and when. Not a script per se, but an essential running order of what they believe needs to happen in the right way in order to achieve the elusive WIN-WIN deal.

The MN will not only have an accurate idea of their own ideal outcome i.e: "I want to sell at a price of £1,000, for standard product 'A', to be ordered today with cash with order terms". But they also honestly and robustly understand their real bottom line on each of their negotiable elements
i.e: "I could if pushed go as low as £900, for an improved product of 'A++' and wait as long as 1 month for the deal which could carry credit terms of 30 days credit".
With these parameters set the MN fully identifies their own boundaries and begins to discuss with the other party (OP) their Ideal Position and possible areas of manoeuvre.

Neither of the 2 positions (Ideal or Bottom Line) will be used as opening offers as all MNs know the value of Information and Rule #6 of "Never Give Free Gifts" comes in to play at the start of every discussion.
MN are renowned for their ability to create successes apparently from the jaws of defeat. It's always impressive and sometimes looks miraculous but mostly its down to good planning. MNs plan not only their top and bottom lines but also their real bargaining chips.

ie: What is your company's' policy on credit - can you give an extra 15 days? And what would you need in return?:- List price? Todays signature?
Bigger deal?
MNs know all of the points on concession for today's deal and keep them to themselves until they know all of the 3TQ and can get the right return on the deal.

ie: Possible negotiables
- Discount (obviously)
- Credit - Delivery - Volumes - Rebates
- Expenses - References - Currency - Guarantees
- Warranties - Packaging - Branding - Training
- Support - Timescales - Assurances - Hospitality
Each of the above can be subjected to the who, what, when, where, and how test. ie: who, what, when, where, and how is it possible to change in relationship to credit, delivery, volumes etc...
When you can do this as preparation you are aiming for MN status. If you can do this off the cuff you have achieved superhuman status. Comprehensive planning is crucial, but intelligent flexibility is your professional goal. General Douglas MacArthur, the most successful 2nd World War US Naval Commander said "I plan thoroughly for every campaign, but I haven't created a plan yet that survived first contact with the enemy!" This is where the other secrets of the MN come into play.

2. Discussion
All MNs know the power of questions and by using their understanding of their own Ideal and Bottom Line positions they create insightful questions to identify the OP's positions and requirements.
Opening questions such as "Ideally how would you like to resolve this delivery problem... ?" or "How would you prefer to conclude this difference between these prices... ?" These early 'open' requests for information from the MN will be viewed as Co-operative by the OP and can be made whether you are a Buyer or Seller. The WIN-WIN resolution all MNs are aiming for holds no favourites to which side of the table resolves the issue.

MN discussions always follow these 2 mantras.
Mantra #1: "Negotiation is Co-operative not Competitive" - if you find yourself manipulating, bluffing or cheating to get your own way - you've stopped Negotiating and may be putting the WIN-WIN at risk. Don't forget if you invalidate the WIN-WIN it might be your WIN that goes first.
Mantra #2: "Negotiation is Pragmatic not Emotional". Of course there are emotions involved, you may be passionate about the value you bring to the deal and insist on getting the correct return on your investment. However MNs know that to provoke inappropriate emotions only exacerbates the initial conflict. Therefore they will always avoid inflammatory blaming and accusational language, as these contributions will not only be seen as competitive by the OP (and as such non-negotiation behaviour), but can be the greatest barrier to co-operation in any Conflict Resolution. MNs always "tackle the ball and not the player" - go for the problem not the behaviour.

3. Information Guarding
Knowledge is power. A well worn cliché, but never better put to use than during negotiations. MNs will have in-depth meetings with their team to define exactly what they know and the value of this information, also what information they don't yet know and how they will fill this gap.
Simply, information you hold can be divided into two camps.

#1 Information we hold which will help our WIN (and possibly even the WIN-WIN) if disclosed to the OP,
and #2 Information we hold which would hinder our WIN achievement if disclosed, either at the wrong time, or at any point during these negotiations.
If you are ever in any doubt always treat the Information as if it will 'hinder'. You can always share the nugget at a later date with a suitable apology with little damage to your rapport and WIN-WIN, but you can't "unsay" something if you give it away to soon.
MNs know exactly what information they have, the value of it and exactly what they need to know, together with the price they will pay to get it.

4. Never Say Never
Some cynics feel that everything should be Negotiable. That's not true. For example you can't negotiate with the Laws of Physics (ask Star Trek's Scotty if you are unsure), the Laws of the land are non-negotiable to such a degree you can't even unconsciously (or mistakenly) create a contract for an illegal act. Even some Company Policies will be non-negotiable such as sharing information with the competition, however these can be a movable feast and every MN knows they need constant evaluation to stay abreast of them.
So not everything is Negotiable, but nearly everything can be. Therefore it serves you well to avoid making definitive Negative statements and listen carefully to any negative or apparent limitation the OP gives you. For example, who would feel comfortable saying (A) "We never negotiate on price" or, (B) "No, I won't delivery on that day at any price"?
No? Most MNs recognise the possibilities of positive resolution even when given what appear to be absolute negatives and listen for the possible signals within the OP's statements.
Take the above 2 Total Nevers. A MN might respond with " I appreciate that you believe your price is sacrosanct but what else could you move on?" i.e: could we prompt, or signal, a possible movement, with extended credit terms, branded packaging or even a consignment stock issue?
MNs know that people leak signals of movement even when the OP thinks they are being definitive. If you follow rule; #5 "Listen more and talk less", you are more likely to hear the key to your WIN-WIN, even when it's imbedded in an apparent limitation.

Most customers today in the equipment sales market want you to believe they hold all the cards. They can dictate the terms and the price.
But scratch the surface and they will admit to also needing a relationship with their supplier. Maybe only until the product has been delivered, installed people trained and performing to their expectations. And whilst they know "there is no such thing as a free lunch" they sometimes mistakenly force suppliers into onerous deals or a I win you lose deal. What happens to the losing side of a poor deal. They may appear to give in graciously but will then embark on a (sometimes surreptitious) "Revenge Cycle": in other words they will look for ways to claw back their perceived loss during the next phases of the relationship. Your customer knows this instinctively and will be trying to minimise your opportunity to do them damage after the deal has been struck.
Therefore in these short meetings MNs will be looking not just for Buying Signals ie: Are you sure you can deliver Model X3 on Friday 12th? But they will be preparing their questions to identify the customer's possible room for manoeuvre on these points and the costs of non compliance. For example a salesperson might ask " which is the more important, the exact product or the delivery date?" or even "why is the 12th so important?"- "If the X3 isn't available on that date what happens - can we still get a deal? You might be well aware that you have a warehouse full of X3s and they can be delivered well in time for their 12th deadline, but you won't want to break Rule #4
(Never make the first offer, unless you can avoid it.) Certainly you wouldn't respond to a question like this until you fully understand the 3TQ.
The 3TQ are the "3 Trading Questions". MNs know that without this information they will not close any deal.
The 3TQ are
1. "What will this concession /information exchange cost me?"
2." What is it worth to the op?"
And finally and most importantly
3. "What do I want in return?"
By the way they always aim to leave the room with the unused chips still in the pocket. Just in case they get mugged at the door or at the unplanned surprise "Best and Final " post-negotiation Buyers meeting. We all need wiggle room and if you don't use it now it adds to your bottom line of your relationship building possibilities later.

5. And Finally Closing...
I know it sounds like a cop-out but MNs only close when it's right. Too many well meaning rookies are railroaded by the OP. They let the OP use time pressures, personal intimidation and threats of better competitive rates to close the deal on their own terms. MNs won't have any truck with this. The deal gets closed when Both parties have an identified WIN-WIN. If this means taking a break from the table and private reviews, then so be it. If these reviews create a minor delay, whilst both parties go back to the discussion of the cost and value of each (nearly) agreed element of the deal i.e. the price, the product, the packaging, the delivery dates, the values expected and the credit terms to be adhered to - then the delay is necessary.

MNs know that the OP sometimes inexpertly tries to force their hand and can regret the publicly agreed deal when they get back to the safety of their lair. The temptation to re-profile the deal in their own favour without recourse to the negotiation table can be very strong. To avoid this happening and the WIN-WIN dispersing to the four-winds, MNs insist on full agreement before both parties leave the room.
Your WIN-WIN will only be delivered if the OP gets (and keeps) their WIN for the duration of your relationship. The WIN-WIN close, whilst looking like a power play, is actually a highly pragmatic and co-operative technique for the greater good of all Parties involved.
In summary, the 5 key secrets of Master Negotiators I have observed are that they:

(1) Plan comprehensively, before entering into
(2) Co-operative Discussions whilst guarding and intelligently disseminating their evaluated
(3) Information, they always listen carefully to everything that the other party says, no matter how negative or problematic and
(4) they Never Say Never - they always say it's "Possible" and try to devise a method to achieve it, which by maintaining good Rapport with the other party, they can finally insist on
(5) Closing an intelligently evaluated WIN-WIN, which allows both parties to go away and WANT to, mutually, deliver the agreed resolution to the original conflict.
